About Zen Carbon

A climate company building permanence into every pour.

We're a climate technology company accelerating the decarbonization of construction while delivering durable carbon removal at industrial scale. Our technology turns ordinary concrete into one of the planet's largest potential carbon sinks.

Our journey through time

From first concept to real-world deployment.

  1. February 2025

    Company founded

Zen Carbon was founded with a vision to position Kenya as a global leader in low-carbon concrete production and a mission to sequester tons of CO₂ by 2050 through scalable CO₂ mineralization in concrete.

  2. 2025

    Proof of technology

We successfully demonstrated our carbon mineralization technology, validating its ability to permanently store CO₂ in concrete and confirming the technical feasibility of our solution.

  3. 2025

    Laboratory validation

Independent laboratory testing verified the performance of our technology, including strength improvements, material quality, and permanent carbon storage.

  4. 2025

First low-carbon pathway in the global south

We established a practical pathway for scalable low-carbon concrete deployment in emerging markets, proving the model can work beyond traditional pilot environments.

  5. 2025

    First industry deployment

We completed our first industry deployment at Flamingo Concrete, bringing the technology into a real production environment.

  6. 2026

    Strategic partnerships

We expanded our network through partnerships with Co2 suppliers , strengthening our path from pilot to broader market adoption.

  7. Future

    Global scaling

Our focus is to scale across major construction markets and accelerate permanent carbon removal through concrete at industrial level.

Our technology

Engineered for permanence. Verified for the carbon market.

Our system pairs precision-metered CO₂ delivery with mix-design science and continuous MRV — so every cubic meter delivers measurable, permanent removal.

Carbon mineralization

CO₂ reacts with calcium hydroxide in cement, forming stable calcium carbonate crystals.

Concrete chemistry

Mineralization densifies microstructure, improving early strength and durability.

Permanence

Calcium carbonate is thermodynamically stable for 1,000+ years — geological timescales.

Verification

Per-batch mass balance, third-party audit, registry-grade MRV pipeline.
